launching a dream

IMG_6846
me and my mom a LONG time ago- a pic that I keep above my work space

Along with everything else happening over here (I can't list everything because it will overwhelm me!) I am in the midst of launching something new! I am teaming up with my creative mentor and best friend- MY MOM- to bring you a new website complete with a unique online store.

a
If you didn't already know I am the daughter of self employed artists who have operated a successful creative business for as long as I can remember. My dad is a potter and my mom a ceramic artist and my entire life has been spent observing, collaborating and being inspired by the way that they create and run their business.

For years my mom and I have been tossing around an idea to launch a website completely our own- with handmade designs, ceramic goodies, supplies, accessories, artisan kits, art prints, greeting cards and more. No mass production or made in China (sorry China) but instead products made by our hands (something we are both extremely passionate about). Our dream has finally collided with the right timing and we have been hard at work collaborating, designing and getting to work on production in our studios.

With this new venture, I will slowly be phasing out of selling on Etsy and selling straight from my site (products and classes). The site will be going live in March and as we get closer I will be sharing more details, products, information and a look at this family journey. I can't yet show finished products but for now here is just a tiny peek:

Congratulations, Alisa and Mom! It looks like you will have an abundance of beauty, and I'm looking forward to the launch.

I've been pondering the pros and cons to an in-site store vs an Esty shop and I'd love if you share that part of your journey -- if you want to!

Thank you, as always, for continuing inspiration!

Yay! You guys will rock!!! You know I already love your moms buttons! The picture of you two is amazing - you look like a little big eyed doll!!!

Well I guess I'm a bit envious. My grandparents were artists, too (or at least I think of them that way), but my parents traded their creativity for "respectable" jobs and money and a big house and.. well.. boredom. You should really be glad to have such a great mom (but I guess you know that already) and by the way, she looks very beautiful in that pic you posted.

FUN! How exciting. I love your blog. I used to create a lot, in high school, before I had kids and I really miss it. I'm slowly getting back into it. Can't wait to take one of your classes when I'm done w/ my BA this summer.
